Issue Three, Amigos

Issue Three of the now internationally-famous Outsider Baseball Bulletin is floating around the globe as we speak. This week: A hard-hitting interview with author Edward Achorn (Fifty-Nine in ’84), where Ed and I attempt to figure out what was living inside Mr. Radbourn’s thick mustache.  Also: An informal survey of the 1933 Negro baseball Leagues.  Can you spell C-H-A-O-S  T-H-E-O-R-Y?  If you’d like a sample copy of this issue, drop me an email at s_simkus (@) yahoo.com.  Put ED or BASEBALL in the subject line.

Thanks again to everybody who has subscribed!  We really, truly appreciate your support!

OBB Issue Two

The second issue of the Outsider Baseball Bulletin has arrived. If you want to take her for a test drive- read a free sample- send us an email at outsiderbb [at] gmail.com.  If you want to subscribe (1 year, 52 issues minimum), simply go over to the purchase area.  We’d love to hear from you!  For now, we’re limited to PayPal as far as purchase options, but at least it’s safe and secure. (And yes, it’s really working now!)

The response to the first issue has been incredible!  I want thank everybody for the kind words.  Especially want to thank those who have subscribed to the publication!  We’re truly honored to have you on board.  It should be a fun year as the OBB grows and evolves.

THIS WEEK: Shoeless Joe Jackson and Cuban Stars’ pitcher Jose Junco; plus part-two of Babe Ruth in Baltimore, regarding his amateur career in Charm City.

NEXT WEEK: 1933 Negro National League(!)- perhaps the most complete listing of team W-L records, broken down by league, interlegue, semi-pro, college, minors, etc.!

Thanks for checking in.

OBB…is locked, loaded and ready

We’ve got the first issue completed.  The email addresses have been loaded up.  We just need to make sure everything is 100% perfecto at the new web site before we foist this on the world, which has set us back a day or two.

The Outsider Baseball Bulletin is just about ready to launch. So keep checking your email during the next 24 to 72 hours.  It’s coming….and baseball literature will never be the same.

If you’re somehow not on the list to receive a free issue, shoot me a quick email (s_simkus@yahoo.com) with “baseball” in the subject line.  We’ll toss you on there, quick-like.

OBB to be released June 8th

Okay, finally.  Next Tuesday (June 8) is launch day for the Outsider Baseball Bulletin.  If you haven’t already signed up for a free copy…drop me a line at s_simkus (at) yahoo.com.

As I understand it, the first batch of Cuban and Negro league data will be posted at www.baseball-reference.com sometime in early July!  In the meantime, there will be all sorts of statistical nuggets and insight contained within the Outsider Baseball Bulletin—stuff which often goes beyond the numbers.
